This past week your kids grappled with the question:
“Why can’t I be an only child?”
Key Faith Foundation: God’s Plan for Loving Our Siblings
Key Scriptures: Matthew 16-22; John 21:15-19; 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
The older kids in the group have been asking for the class to be run like the small groups in Youth Group. So this week and from now until January the Grapple class will move away from the set format of the curriculum with games etc. and will have the format of a small group focusing on discussing one or more of the Key Scriptures. The basic lesson will be the same as the curriculum, just the format will change.
So, this past Sunday the kids focused on discussing John 21:15-19 and 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. They were encouraged at the end of class to choose one of four ways previously discussed to love their siblings this week.
SPECIAL NOTE: As we have seen the need to add a class for Middle School/Jr. High kids, Providence will be starting a Jr. High class on Sunday mornings for students in 6th-8th grade on January 10th. This class will not be a part of the Children’s Ministry instead, it will fall under the Youth Ministry and will be taught each week by Chris Ritter, our Youth Coordinator.
The Grapple class will also change on January 10th and will include kids from 3rd-5th grade. At that time we will teach the Grapple class following the original format of the curriculum with games, etc.
We are hoping that these changes will be a better fit for the spiritual needs of your kids and are looking forward to seeing how God works through the coming changes in the lives of your children.
REMEMBER: Our Children’s Ministry Bake Sale is this Sunday, November 1st, after the service. I am still in need of donations of individually wrapped baked goods and volunteers to run the sale. If you can help out, whether it’s buying something, baking, or selling, we’d greatly appreciate it!!
One last thing! Please join me in praying for Grapple teachers!!! We will be losing most of our teachers for this class in the new year. Chris and Noelle will be teaching the Jr. High class in January and this December Kristen and Bryan Christensen will be moving back home, as Bryan will be graduating from William Jessup.
